Joy Munshower – African land animals sculpted in bas-relief
January 25, 2020 at 10:00 am - January 26, 2020 at 6:00 pm MST$300 – $760
This workshop is for intermediate and advanced students. Students will be sculpting bas-relief style beads as well as learning texturing techniques to mimic wrinkles and hide. Students will learn to sculpt the African animals from both photo reference and instructor-drawn examples. Students will learn how to break down the shapes of these animals and how to apply those shapes to sculpting in a bas-relief or low-relief style on a base bead. An overview of various animal anatomies will be covered to help you create realistic and lifelike low-relief beads. Students will also learn how to use specialty dental tools and scalpels to facilitate sculpting in a low-relief style as well as 3-D subject matter. Some photo and diagram reference will be provided to the students to illustrate shape, anatomy, and composition breakdown better. Only two animals are taught per day. If time allows, an “end of day demo” will also be provided.
Animals that you will be learning/making: Zebra, Elephant “trunk down,” black rhino, Pangolin
Lunches and Glass packs are included
